UM to Celebrate Veterans with Military Reunion Sept. 11-13

MISSOULA – The 91视频 is hosting an on-campus military reunion for students and alumni who served in the armed forces Sept. 11-13.

Recently ranked as the no. 1 “Military Friendly” college in the United States the event will further strengthen the relationship between alumni who have selflessly served and Montana’s flagship university.

“We always strive to be the most military friendly university in the country,” said UM President Seth Bodnar. “Now that we have achieved that goal, it is time to expand the community of veterans that made this designation possible. This reunion will serve as a connection point for the hundreds of Grizzly veterans and military affiliated alums we expect to participate in the weekend activities.”

The reunion will begin at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Grateful Nation Memorial on the UM campus A welcome social will follow the memorial at Red’s Bar at 4 p.m.

After the conclusion of a welcome reception on the morning of Friday, Sept.12 in Brantly Hall, attendees are encouraged to attend a Memorial Row Walk with fellow military-affiliated Grizzlies and UM leadership. The morning will culminate with a Purple Heart and Flag Ceremony on the field of Washington-Grizzly Stadium at 10:30 a.m.

On Saturday, Sept. 13, the Montana Grizzlies football team will host the University of North Dakota for the annual Military Appreciation Game. During the game there will be special recognition of veterans and in-game ceremonies. Prior to the game, a Montana National Guard Black Hawk Helicopter will land on the Oval at 9 a.m. The public is invited to visit campus for the helicopter landing.

Some of the reunion events require registration due to high demand.
